Things my momma never told me

but I always suspected are quite numerous. I would like to post these life lessons that I have learned every Monday, but seeing that today is already Tuesday I am off to a bad start. I believe that once you get to know me better you will come to realize that I am full of it...good intentions that is. I could just as easily use Tuesdays to post this topic but once I get something in my head I am hell bent upon doing it. That's just the way I roll. One lesson that I have learned is that parents always seem to tell their chidlren they can do anything they want in life. The sky is the limit. I understand that this is motivational and a self esteem tool but how about a dose of reality. "You can be anything you want to be. You could be the first female president of the United States". Doubt. It. Many times no matter how much hard work and effort you put in to something it is just not going to happen. No shame in that. There are limitations all around us--ones that are not self imposed. Striving after goals that are not attainable is like trying to catch the wind. "Life does not result from the things we possess" *Luke 12:15-21 The relentless pursuit of money robs us of the important things in life. It has been proven that the more money you have the greater your problems. The same is true of poverty. It seems that "just enough" is where I need to be to keep me from going over the edge either way. Too much money and my focus of what is important becomes distorted and selfish. Not enough and it lends to much worry. Just enough to pay obligations and a little to share is where I feel best. How about you? Ever notice your pocketbook is a reflection of your happiness? It does not need to be. If it is you need to readjust your reasoning. Money can be gone in an instant. Look at the people who have saved all their life to have it lost by someone else's mismanagement and greed. What do they now have to rely on? Are they better off than they were before?
